RSS feeds

Week 1 - Blogging and RSS - March 10 - 16

I work at a Digital Library called the Rural Assistance Center (RAC) http://www.raconline.org/. We have RSS feeds on our website so that our clients can subscribe to get funding announcements, news, documents, etc. in real-time as they are posted on our website. This allows clients to get the latest information ASAP. Clients can subscribe to the feeds on topics that are of the most interest to them. I also subscribe to RAC's feeds so that I can see the latest information that has been added to RAC's website by my co-workers. This is also a quality assurance measure for RAC because it is my responsibility to check that nothing has been added twice by mistake. RSS feeds allow me to check this very easily.

RSS feeds has made my job a million times easier because I get the information delivered to me in my Google Reader instead of going out and hunting for the latest information. I don't know how I would ever do my job without it!
